I am kicking it up a notch! I, Conrad, started this blog back in March 2007. At the time I was moving to Turkey, and I was hoping this blog would keep my friends, family, and anyone else interested in what I am up to. I have written about the various aspects of my life; work, social, home. I have also made an effort to rigorously examine the culture of wherever I go.
I left Turkey in the end of July 2008 after what was probably one of the most intense, challenging and difficult times of my life. At the same time it was wonderful, fulfilling and blissful. Shortly before leaving Istanbul someone asked me if I could do it again would I? I couldn’t answer him at the time. I can say now that despite going through the lowest lows and the highest highs, I would do it 100 times over again.
In December of 2008 I moved to Beaumont, Texas, where I am currently working. I intend to throw myself into the local culture here the same way I did in Turkey. I intend to look at my surroundings and look for all the funny, quirky and bizarre things that makes a place feel like home to some, and feel like a far away land to others.
I hope that despite leaving my once international setting, my readers will join me on the next journey, and that people will keep on commenting. I like writing, so until I get a book deal, this blog will continue to be one of my primary creative outlets.
And yes, I will be messin with Texas.
